The Gambia is a country in West Africa sorrounded by Senegal and it is the smallest country on mainland Africa. The country is situated on either side of The Gambia River.

With a population of 1.9 million. Banjul is the capital, but the largest cities are Serekunda and Brikama. The economy is dominated by farming, fishing, and tourism respectively. The official language is English and the National languages comprises of Mandinka, Wollof, Jola, Fula, and serer.

In The Gambia tourism is the fastest growing sector of the economy. Each year tourist all over the world are drawn by its beautiful beaches, sunshine, bird watching view, and the rich cultural heritage.

The hospitality and friendliness of The Gambian people give it its name "The smiling coast."
